Workshop on field work related to youth engagement in North Africa

Thursday, June 12th 2014, Helsinki, Allianssi-talo (Allianssi building), 3rd floor “Hallituksen huone” seminar room

The Finnish Youth Research Network hosts research seminars designed to promote discussion within youth research and to provide a forum for scholars to present and get feedback on their research. The seminar organized in June will take place in Helsinki, in the Allianssi-talo (address Asemapäällikönkatu 1). It is organized by the Finnish Academy funded research project Youth and Political Engagement in Contemporary Africa (YoPo).

This one-day seminar aims to provide an open forum for discussion on empirical and methodological aspects related to the field work concerning youth engagement in rapidly changing and delicate contexts of North Africa – particularly in Tunisia and Lebanon. The workshop consists of reflections around concrete case studies and short musical pieces, aiming to provide an alternative knowledge to the issue of engagement. The YoPo-project has invited young Tunisian scholars Afifa Ltifi and Fatma Jabberi to Finland to work together with the Finnish members of the project. Bruno Lefort works as a researcher in Tampere Peace Research Institute (TAPRI).

The seminar is open to max. 25 participants. Interested participants are invited to fill in the electronic registration form. For further questions, please contact Dr Sofia Laine, tel. +358 20 7552655, email sofia.laine [at]
