Research

The Finnish Youth Research Society carries out and funds research operations through the Finnish Youth Research Network. The Network, founded in 1999, is a society of researchers that cooperates with universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutions and various youth sector professionals. The network’s purpose is twofold: to produce high quality academic research and to affect youth policy and youth work development through its research.

The Finnish Youth Research Network grasps phenomena related to young people and youth and brings new knowledge and insights into public discussion. The network’s research projects focus on e.g. youth culture research, life paths and passage into adulthood as well as themes of marginalization, ethnic relations, education and youth work.

The Finnish Youth Research Network organizes seminars and training. Several of the network’s researchers work as experts in various youth work and youth policy training events and development projects.

The main sponsor of the Finnish Youth Research Network is the Youth Policy Division of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
